Caithness and North Sutherland Regeneration Partnership
Weekly Update, 28th June 2010
The partners in CNSRP held a workshop this week, focusing on the priority areas and projects to be pursued over the coming months. There was a clear consensus that focusing on actions in energy and business services was most likely to deliver the level and quality of employment sought for the area. A clear forward plan based on the area Vision for 2020 was agreed as the crucial enabler for this. Further communication on the outcomes of the workshop will follow next week.
I presented a vision for the area to the AGM of the Caithness Partnership Health Improvement Forum. I highlighted the potential economic drivers for the area as decommissioning work at Dounreay progresses, and also highlighted the types of infrastructural enhancements that might make future economic growth in the area easier to attract.
I met with representatives from Caithness Solutions, one of the two announced bidders for the PBO Contract at Dounreay. This provides an opportunity to provide local input as bidders build their proposals.
