Thurso firm joins forces with turbine manufacturer

Thurso-based energy consultancy Caithness Renewables has announced a new partnership with a leading small wind turbine manufacturer, Evance Wind Turbines.

Evance, which has over 1,600 installations around the world, helps farmers, home owners, businesses and schools to become green energy producers.

Following the opening of Caithness Renewables’ newly refurbished office in 2012, it has have been looking to expand its portfolio, including helping Highlanders to access sustainable energy solutions for domestic and commercial properties.

The two companies met through the trade body Scottish Renewables, of which they are both members.,

Yesterday, the new partners jointly exhibited at the Scottish Highland Renewable Energy Conference at the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness.

Louise Smith, Caithness Renewables director, said: “Evance has a product that is a great fit for many properties, helping with electricity bills and achieving relatively short payback periods. This work has allowed me to create a new post within the team.”

Kevin Parslow, chief executive officer of Evance, said: “Many locations in Caithness have a good wind resource so we look forward to helping homeowners, farmers and businesses combat rising energy costs by generating their own electricity, as we are currently in Orkney with over 250 installations.”
