Major Project - Nuclear - Caithness and North Sutherland Regeneration Partnership

Support to the nuclear industry, nationally and internationally primarily focused around the area’s skills and qualifications built up over 60 years in support of Dounreay and Vulcan.

Major Project – Nuclear

The decommissioning industry is already a significant market in the local area. Nationally and Internationally, the emergence of new build in England and Wales, the growth of decommissioning opportunities worldwide and traditional Operations and Maintenance support will result in even greater opportunities in the future due to the pressure on the limited skilled resources available elsewhere. The Cavendish Nuclear opportunity is still in early stages of development; significant approvals are required before it can proceed as it will need to be closely linked to the Dounreay decommissioning programme. There is a second opportunity in the area as well and both will focus on nuclear support service activities.

Skilled workforce that is in short supply nationally and internationally

Highlands and Islands Enterprise. The nuclear services companies will of course make the case to their relative companies and establish the businesses in the area, however, the CNSRP activity is to make sure they get all the help they need to make this a reality.
